I Hate Being Single

I recently caught this documentary on HBO. I’d heard a lot about it through interviews on podcasts earlier this year . It was realllly interesting. If you’re a fan of TV, comedy, sitcoms, writing, directing, communication, culture shock, social behavior, etc it’s worth seeing.
It’s funny that I never considered Everybody Loves Raymond to be very high on the scale of relatable, realistic, naturalistic, or anything other than a big broad family sitcom. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a whole episode. Probably because I stopped watching family sitcoms when I became a teenager and didn’t relate to the premise, but Phil Rosenthal, the creator has to convince Russian TV producers/directors/actors that being truthful, realistic, and honest is at the core of the comedy of the show, and I find that very relatable!
Sometimes Phil is a little hammy for the cameras, but really it’s amazing to see how much resistance and how hard it is to communicate/translate the ideas of comedy, especially across the world.

I Hate Being Single Presents… Rob’s Room
This is a collection of short improvised scenes that take all take place in Rob’s bedroom. Each with another character from IHBS. They fit nicely between full length I Hate Being Single Episodes. Tomorrow feature Dom Manzolillo. New IHBS episodes release every tuesday!
